Hurricane Bertha - There Will NOT Be A Hurricane In The UK This Weekend

Reports in National newspapers about a Hurricane set to hit UK by this weekend (Sunday 10th of August), warn of strengthening winds, heavy downpours and high waves.

It's likely that you will hear people talking about Hurricane Bertha over the next few days, but there will be no hurricane in the UK. Hurricane Bertha has already been downgraded to a Tropical Storm, and by the time it hits Ireland and the UK, if it hits us at all, it will be an Extra-tropical storm, which although quite an active summer storm, will not bring hurricane strength winds. However, if the storm does hit the UK, winds, rain and waves could still cause some disruption.

It is not certain of the storm will hit us at all. Whilst all forecast models suggest that Bertha will head in the general direction of the UK, some weather models suggest that the storm will hit the UK at the earliest on Sunday 10th of August into Monday, others suggest that the storm will head towards France and miss the UK completely.

As we head towards the weekend we will get a better picture of the likely track of the storm. If the storm does hit the UK it could bring with it some disruption, so make sure you follow our Facebook page for regular updates.
