The event everyone has been waiting for has now happened, a partial solar eclipse, seen from the UK by many, through an incredibly fortuitous tiny gap in the clouds. Not everyone had a view, but many who did, captured some fantastic images of this rare event.
Our Facebook page has come alive this morning, with people sending in photos from all over the country. If you have pictures of the partial eclipse, please post them to our Facebook page and we will publish them for the world to see.
Olly Trevor Clark captured this incredible shot of the eclipse, from Chester. It's just incredible that this tiny gap in the clouds allowed photos like this to be taken.
Another shot from Olly shows the various stages of the partial eclipse.
This is a really great scene, showing the partial eclipse over Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough, sent in by Linda Thompson, and taken by her son Tony Michael Jones.
Another really clear shot of the partial eclipse, posted to our Facebook page by The Hollies Bed and Breakfast in Cumbria.
We love this shot of the eclipse, taken from Northern Ireland by Leanne Seymour. Again, a tiny gap in the clouds allowed for this shot.
We're not sure from where this photo of the partial eclipse, sent in from Yvonne Ford, was taken, but it clearly shows just how small the gap in the clouds was. What are the chances of this gap in the clouds appearing at just the right moment?
This stunning shot of the eclipse was taken from Mansfield by Sonja Walters.
Another shot, this time from Worthing in West Sussex, again shows just how fortunate many were to see the eclipse through the tiniest gap in the clouds. Thanks Laura Arnold for this great shot.
Another shot, this time from Hemel Hempstead. Great picture Rachel Bowgen-Smith, thanks for posting it to our Facebook page.
