On Friday the 5th June, the Investec Derby Festival gets under way with Ladies day. A day when racegoers dress up in elegant, fashionable attire, to watch high profile races such as the Investec Oaks.
But this year we may see more coats and umbrellas than we do summer dresses, as thunderstorms and heavy rain move across the south east of England.
The day will start off cloudy with sunny intervals, with light rain expected towards 11am. Heavier rain expected by the early afternoon, with a strong chance of thunderstorms. There may be a few sunnier spells a bit later in the afternoon, but rain will be strong feature for most of the day. The top temperature will be around 20c, and a breezy day, with southwesterly winds of around 11mph.
