Flooding in Tonbridge

The river Medway has burst it's banks causing severe flooding on the Tonbridge area. The Environment Agency has said that flood risks would remain for the next three days.

Fire crews who were due to go on strike from 7pm until Midnight called off the strike after the flooding was declared a major incident.

Flooding has affected many parts of the South East after the storm on Monday night, Leatherhead in Surrey has seen some of the worst flooding in the area in 100 years and Gatwick airport North terminal has suffered power problems after the river Mole burst it's banks flooding on-airport substations. Thousands of people are facing  flight delays and cancellations and the police have been trying to calm desperate passengers, many of whom are  trying to get home to their family for Christmas.

On Christmas day, thundery showers continue to hit the the South East making the situation even worse. Heavy hail showers have been crossing the south east (See pictures and video of the hail showers).
