An intense low pressure system moving eastwards between Iceland and Scotland is expected to bring Gale force, and even Storm force winds to the north of Northern Irelend, Western and Northern Scotland. North Wales and Northern England, from Tuesday night this week.

Unusually high waves off the coast of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland is expected to bring flooding to roads and causeways Western and Northern Scotland, and North of Northern Ireland. Waves as high as 80ft are being forecast off the coast of Northern Ireland.

The Met Office have issued a Yellow weather warning of Wind affecting the whole of Scotland, Northern England, Northern Ireland and North Wales from Tuesday night until Thursday Morning. On Thursday the Yellow warning is extended to include all parts of the UK, including the South west, South East, London and East Anglia. Gusts of 60-70 mph can be expected within the warning area, with 70-80 mph in northwestern exposures.

This low pressure system will also bring with it significant risk of snow blizzards and hail, particularly over high ground. Some forecasters are predicting that these blizzards could be very severe.

The public is advised that there is risk of potential disruption to travel, and the possibility of disruption to power supplies. The public is also advised to avoid exposed coastlines in Northern Ireland, Scotland and North Wales.
