Later, a Storm Surge caused by a low pressure system, high winds and a natural high tide, caused severe tidal flooding in North Wales and the East Coast of England.

As Thursday 5th of December comes to an end, we have seen dramatic scenes of high winds, fallen tress and damaged properties in Scotland, severe flooding to Rhyl, Wales, and very severe flooding on the East coast of England from Newcastle to Felixstowe.
Sadly it is not over, Essex and Kent are yet to feel the effects of the Storm surge. Thousands of people have been evacuated and only time will tell how extensive the damage will be.
The Environment Agency still has 64 active Severe flood warnings going into Friday.

Flooding has now started in Great Yarmouth.
A Severe flood warning has now been issued covering 18,000 people in Boston. Police advise people to head to a local sports stadium. Anyone else is advised to head to upstairs bedrooms, either in their own home or a neighbour's.
