After another Low pressure weather system brought more heavy rain and gale force winds to the country, the river Severn at Worcester has bust its banks bringing severe flooding to parts of Worcester. Water levels are still rising (12:10).

People are advised to avoid Worcester town centre today (Sunday 9th of February) because roads in the area have become impassable due to floods, causing severe traffic problems in the area.  The AA warn driver not to attempt to drive through flood water. Many roads, including The Bridge, will be closed this afternoon.

The Environment agency has said that they will be putting up flood barriers in Worcester today to attempt to contain the flooding and avoid the situation getting worse.

Update: Worcestershire county council have warned that parts of the City centre may be closed for a week due to the flooding.
